Class Introduction

Hi, I'm Ben Willmore from Digital Mastery and welcome to Up to Speed with Photoshop. I actually used to write a book of that title many years ago. But back when I used to write these books, Adobe would only update Photoshop about every 18 months. And therefore, you could wait for a book to come out to really learn what's new. But these days, Adobe updates Photoshop on a regular basis. Sometimes you get an update once a month. Sometimes you might get a quick one in the next week. Well, so this session is going to look at what has changed in the recent past with Photoshop, Bridge, and Adobe Camera Raw. But before we dive into that, let's make sure that you are updated to the most recent version of Photoshop. You can do that with the Creative Cloud app. Here I am in the Creative Cloud app. On a Mac, I get to it by going to my menu bar and I see the creative Cloud icon. Well, this is what you use to download Photoshop in the first place. And over on the upper left is a choice called update...

s. And there, you're gonna see if you have any updates available. If you don't see the newest versions, then in the upper right is a choice of check for updates. And if you click that, you just never know if there's gonna be a newer version of Photoshop. It'll take it a little bit of time to figure it out but you should see that even here, I got an updated version since I started to record this video, which means in the last 24 hours. So, I'll just click update, or up here if you have more than one, you could choose update all. If you have any questions as we go through this, then I have a special Facebook group that you're welcome to join. And I'll mention that exact address you can go to as well as how you can follow me in other social media outlets in the very last video of this series. It's known as parting words. But once you've gone through these videos, you should have a pretty good idea of where the new features have been added in Photoshop and have an idea of how to use them. But I'm sure Adobe will sneak in an update at some point and therefore there might be some even newer features that are not even covered here but this should get you up to speed as of the date I recorded this.

Holy cow! I hope you already know everything about these programs before you start this class, and are ready to be off to the races! I watched the first part twice and still didn't quite catch everything. Ben slowed down a bit afterward and was fairly easy to follow throughout the rest. I appreciated the updates, but would like to be able to take a few notes next time.
