Low world good morning and welcome to tracking and mixing with outboard gear with chris krumm it here on creative life my name is russ and he's going to be your host for this day's workshop very excited to dive into seeing all the gear that chris uses and what's exciting about this is that chris actually did bring up all of his own personal gear from interlaced audio down in portland where he is based so this is going to be an example of an opportunity to get in and see the year that he actually uses himself see how he uses it you see different techniques that you can also achieve that you know, some of them he mentioned yesterday it was interesting that you can achieve some of them digitally doesn't mean you have to use this exactly secure but it opens your eyes to different opportunities and different ways of creating different sounds so it should be a very interesting day. I'm excited to see what he's got in store for us before we do that though we do have some wonderful lovely stud...
io audience members here that we would love to meet you briefly so guys go ahead and tell us your name maybe what you do and then a little bit about your experience with outboard gear and what you have what you don't have maybe something that you're looking forward to using at some point I just what's exciting about well, my name is justin peterson, I play guitar in a band called for likes ofyou, which can find us on facebook, they're easy. Um, my personal experience with outdoor gear, probably like a lot of people online is, you know, nothing like I'm really trying to like see, you know what I need to be getting my head into, so I love that and that's it's really good to have somebody who really has no experience whatsoever because that is no it's helpful because like you said, there are a lot of people out there who we're not raised using this that they're doing everything digitally and so it's going to be a really cool way for you to kind of speak up and ask questions for people who are coming from that perspective. I'm inspiring an audio engineer hand zero experience so far with outboard gear, but definitely looking forward, a learning about it and picking up some knowledge and hopefully figure out what I want to add to my set up next, right on makes up my name is short and cruz I am a engineer and producer from portland I currently working and turnout of studio called flatline studios um, I have some experience with albert gear. I currently use an apogee do as well. Loza, neave, portico, fifty sixteen. OK I bought this course to watch at my leisure. Lots of Respect for Kris - if you go to his personal website, his experience and track record (no pun!) is impressive. Clearly he knows his stuff and has developed a very efficient way of working. I am a singer songwriter in the UK with many years of experience playing live. I have my own project studio (Pro Tools 11, lots of vintage hardware, UAD, Avalon, Tube Tech etc) and all the software plug ins, virtual instruments. Also a comprehensive guitar collection, acoustics, electrics, keyboards, DW drums etc. My problem is this. here again is a well organised Creative Live presentation with a competent presenter, but the content is inappropriate for the majority of viewers. Like many people watching this stuff, I find the material used to demonstrate the techniques is awful. Grahame Cochrane is the same - over produced American soft rock which has absolutely no musical or creative merit. This 'music' isn't going to stand the test of time and will be gone within a year. I understand that the material isn't Kris's personal stuff, but he says he likes it and I'm sure he does. But what your listeners want to hear is how to produce recordings which have space and clarity. Listen to Jackson Browne, Mary Chapin Carpenter, Mark Knopfler, Ry Cooder, Dylan, Van Morrison - these artist's recordings are the ones to emulate! So please, can we kick out the over compressed X Factor style stuff and get back to basics? Show us how to get quality sounds and how to create space in a mix. Its the natural sounding music which will be with us in 50 year's time - just like the Motown stuff is now. No doubt there is a whole generation out there who think this sort of material has credibility, but I have to tell you it has almost no musical or creative merit, and I for one don't need to know how its produced.

This was the single most helpful source of information for improving my mixing that I have ever come across. I loved it and i know everybody else here will too. Buy it so this man can come back again

Awesome course, super relevant as Issues is my favourite band and as a producer/engineer I aspire to their tone, the drum mixing was especially great, just a shame that there was no mention of electric guitar mixing
