Lesson Info

Welcome to the workshop

So, the format for this workshop, is following me on a real world commercial assignment. My client is a company called Coolnvintage, they're based here in Portugal, and they specialize in taking old Land Rovers, restoring them, and making them drive like nearly new, lets say nearly new. They're absolutely beautiful machines, but I don't want this to be a pure car shoot, I want to show you how to incorporate product into a wider story that engages with your audience, especially on platforms like Instagram, you've seen it before too, watches, it doesn't really do much for me. I don't think that's the best way to go about things, I think it's a disservice to self, to followers, and the brand, much better to build a story around that product, make it engaging, use it as an opportunity, to expand your portfolio, it will come back to you, in terms of increased engagement, increased followers, new clients. I'm going to peel back the layers to my entire process, and give you a step by step app...

roach, that you can follow and incorporate into your own workflow. How do I prepare for a shoot, how do I produce a shoot, how do I execute it, and then, how do I post produce the shoot, how do I edit? I edit according to my client, I will look at the history, the backstory of my client, look at old posters, type faces, all of these things will form inspiration, in terms of how I approach the shoot. I think it's important to understand who you're working for before you execute. You can always put your twist on things, but tipping back into your client's story, and where they've come from, will make the whole product more cohesive. So the ultimate goal for a photographer, is to get paid for their work, got to pay the mortgage, the rent, whatever, so having a real world commercial shoot at the center of this workshop, was pretty key for me. So to recap, we have a real world commercial shoot, we will prepare for it, we will produce it, shoot it, edit it, and deliver it, all with you guys, embedded in the journey. Fantastic My thoughts on the storytelling workshop. The short is; it’s fantastic. The long is I loved all the details covered, from shot types and the ideas behind them to the call sheets and shot lists, and the whole process. I felt like I had a better understanding of how to schedule a professional shoot and I really felt like I had a much better grasp on many ideas and concepts, and I believe I’ve been able to improve my photography with them, so thank you and Finn. It really is fantastic.
