Getting Back to Your Purpose - Why Do You Do What You Do?

So why do you get out of bed morning what are you doing all this why should I care that your business exists right? We talked about this earlier we talked about the golden circle and how most businesses that run from there why are more successful most businesses know what they do they take pretty pictures they know how they do it they do it with a can of five mark three but very few know why great companies start with their why? Okay, so this would be a company that doesn't know what they're doing we make great computers simple design, innovative technology beautiful you want to buy one boring great businesses think differently they start with their wives we challenge the status quo we advanced human thought we dare to think different we do that with a simple design, innovative technology and a beautiful technique we happen to make computers totally different perspective how would this apply to a photography business? We believe being a parent is the greatest reason toe live we cherish...

ed family love we challenge that recorded heritage gives self esteem to every child we do that with creative design organic understated fine art aesthetic enduring quality and an emotional experience we happen to make beautiful photographic portrait so you want to buy one totally different then I take pictures with a candid five day mark three one by one totally different people don't buy what you d'oh they buy why you do it and what you d'oh simply proves what you believe how you do it shows whyyou are unique so julia how the heck do you find your purpose that's a big question I'm really asking that right now I can see in your head okay so how do I find this well first of all go back to the very beginning when you became a photographer go back to your personal memories before when you wanted to be a photographer hey dig deep what triggered your shoulder okay what emotions drive you what experienced transcended you I can tell you mine I never want to be a mother whole twenties and thirties kids uh why was that because I hated my own mother when I was scared that if I had a child I would be like her and I didn't want to be my mother so I rejected motherhood thinking and if I didn't become a mother I wouldn't become her okay and when I have my own child you guys all know this ppt around me but my sister bless her heart I will never be able to repay her recorded that heritage recorded that image for me of my newborn infant that I would have lost to depression had she not photographed us I would have missed the first three months four months I did miss it I missed it horribly because I was deep in a dark well you don't want to be a mother and all those feelings of me hating my mother just came flooding back and I said I'm gonna be her I can feel it I'm gonna be her jenny changed that jenny show me that that's not it and that I am my own unique person and my son is his own unique person and that we're gonna that love between us is perfect and so it transformed my beliefs about motherhood having beautiful portrait's taken of me and my son transformed how I feel about motherhood and then of course little soul often drugs helped teo a minute you know it's true for much of that I think well my mom and I finally got happy and I realized ok it's ok it's ok to talk about it to it's okay to talk about it is in fact not enough people dio it also sparked my curiosity about motherhood that portrait I just showed you that's mae exploring what it means to be a mother that's me taking my once rejected ideas of motherhood and switching into curiosity and going what is this relationship between mother and child? What do I not know about it? Yes I may have been robbed of that of my own childhood but there's no reason I can't get it back now in the reverse relationship with my son instead of with my parents so my art what I'm communicating with my soul is this con is this exploration of what it means to be a mother in all aspects of motherhood if you've seen any my competition president I've got motherhood all over it it's like every image I want to create is about being a mother what does it mean to be a mother shepherd of her heart whose heart mom's heart kid's heart health so dig deep into your own experience good, bad, ugly, indifferent I don't care and figure out what it is about imagery that moves you I've seen some beautiful purposes on our on our facebook page infertility, parental issues, adoption all kinds of incredible stories but it doesn't have to be related to the subject that you photograph it could be something totally different why you love to photograph but dig deep into that and grow your business your brand your art from your beliefs and those beliefs will change over time that's fine they're supposed to you're an artist you evolved you grow that's what makes your aren't better you want to grow you don't want to stay stagnant you want to make mistakes so you can leap forward and make things better fast okay, so what I'm saying is once your purpose is defined, every decision in your business you will make will revolve around it oftentimes the decisions you make in your life will revolve around it too you remember the entrepreneur I talked about in the very beginning the three rules entrepreneur manager and taskmaster what did I say about them remember nobody remembers that I failed the teacher the most important one is the entrepreneur right the overseer the person at the home the one who sees the big picture and the overall future plan okay he's the one you must have to be a business owner because he's the one who sees the future and the big picture and the overall growth of the company really if you can't leave you can't succeed so my question is to what's preventing you from leading nine times out of ten it's you you're in your own way and you must lead you in the direction that you want to go so let me ask you again what's worth doing even if you do fail embrace that little bit of uncertainty it's a beautiful thing when you do that you will invite ideas to come you will invite creativity you will invite innovation and allow inspiration tohave a little playdate with you and once you do that the treasures inside you will read joyce because you will be giving to the world what we all so badly want from you homework number twenty seven I want you to write two letters letters to yourself you will write a letter to yourself from george and you were right a letter to yourself from passion let them speak fully to you as if they're a customer service department complaining okay then I want you to write them back. This is actually lives gilbert's exercise. So I have to give her full credit for this right thumb back with gratitude. With respect with your voice, you will be surprised at what happens and how much your purpose reveals itself.

I look at this course as a library of amazing and valuable content. Everything that any photographer ever needs to run their business and make it successful and profitable can find all in one place, this course. I always felt inspired by Julia's amazing business skills, she is one of the best in this industry. I have taken all of her previous classes before and never felt disappointed. Instead, I would feel more confident, educated, empowered and inspired. Every segment is packed with so much information and it feels overwhelming at first, but the workbook that this course comes with, gives you sanity and helps you to work through it. I would definitely recommend this course to anyone. You should decide if you want to spend 10 years to get all this knowledge that this course already has, or just spend $199 to get it all at once and not waste anymore time experimenting!? Your choice.

We're only 1wk into this 5wk bootcamp and I have already gained so much valuable information {already worth every cent}. Julia shares so much about how to run a business, and do it in a way that's successful, profitable and enjoyable. Have already started working on a few new systems to help run my business better, and my customer service has already improved. Now to just spruce up my home studio to make it more visually appealing and comfortable for my clients :) Thank you so much Julia!

I am so incredibly happy to have taken the plunge this evening, as I bought this course! Today watching the course a lightbulb went off and I knew I had to have it! This is worth every cent, and I am so very excited to watch the rest and implement these teachings into my business. Its time to take charge and take my business back! I am so amazed after standing back and looking at my business from a distance, of how much i have been giving away. Not only of not only my pricing but myself. I have compromised for clients that aren't right for me. This is giving me the confidence and knowledge to say no, in a nice way, and to focus on the business I really WANT! Thank you Julia, you are an inspiration! An amazing women with impeccable business sense!
