Planning Your Quilt Design
So the next day you're going to do in this where are design wall comes in is you're gonna want tio plan your design? This particular quilt is so easy to have fun with that this is the fun part, so what you'll do to make a basic block? I'm just going to grab here, I'll get some contrast colors the only rule are not really a rule, but the only challenge that I give myself when I'm making for patch blocks is I like there to be a good contrast between the two fabrics that I use other than that so that's your basic for patch block and then for mayor you can build out and this is yeah, this is where you get to sort of design where you want these colors to fall, so if I'm looking at that and I'm thinking with this yellow looks really pale, why not try turning it over and see if we get a little more one more play? And then as we start to do this, I might decide, you know what? I want this to always be diagonal to this looks like there's tutored for color variations of about two, so you can pla...
y with that if you wanted, what if I know this's another shirt that I cut up that's really god, so it's a well, then design which is little butterflies on the front that if you turn this over it's actually got a texture on the back from the way things that's really cool it's something you know the ads teo the surface texture and I don't really worry about which way the pattern goes I know when men shirts you get a lot of stripes I don't really worry about which way that pattern goes I think sometimes maybe I'll have them all going this way I mean you could you know it's whatever you whenever speaks to you really switch the dark so then you can see is you start to put your design up you can make a secondary effect in here so maybe these could all be this dark pink or this bright pink and then it would start to play appear so you could decide that you you know want these two play here thiss one to play right here so you could have different secondary patterns going through to leave anybody out because he used to bowl you can tell you really like this pink so if I were doing this quill if I were planning the design because that pink is such a strong color I would want to make sure it's moving around the quilt I wouldn't want it or you could have it concentrated in the center or something like that but for an overall design um I would make sure that it had that it was dispersed evenly around the quilt and here's a square where used the placket. So this was actually a plaque it on the back of the fabric? I mean, I'm sorry. In the back of the shirt, it was just a sewn down. Sure placket, which was great because there's no buttons to worry about. So I mean, sure to use that one. So see how fun this is my wallet. I love it it's so fun. And, you know, so using a color like this, it starts to recede and you're not really paying attention. I always use cream for design walls, but I really think this is a better color. I think everything stands out really well and it's just a a king sized sheet. So the way that we will construct this particular block is also the four together. And then we will complete all of those blocks, and then we will figure out how we want the design to join. And then well, so those together. So we're not sewing in strips across the quote work. We're constructing the easel, individual blocks, and that way you can play. You can figure out where everything should get, which is the fun part.
