there is all natural light hell strobe light and I'll speed light up against each other um I'm going to start with the natural light and I am going tio come up and have a look at what we've got in here this was more about what we're picking up in natural light beautiful sharp image um I'm going to do my standard cleanup on the clyde and keep it very simple and very fast then I am going to do three images and have a look at them all close up so we can see what sort of details in the face and what we like we did a very good job off with vacating this image I really liked that this speed light held up to it I mean it certainly isn't as strong as this tribe but um I definitely think it's competing this is this dr here is a little bit more contrast in the face and cheap binds which I think is really beautiful it is softness throughout the overall lighting on the face which is beautiful it's definitely a gorgeous image was gonna soften that line on her cheek and that shit on her nose and the...
n that there are no here like that perfect gonna watch that little scar now I'm gonna do the speed light I definitely like this drive in this in which what that's been like stan really wrong with the instead of putting this into sort of a dark yellow polaroid I think when odo is given a very light time in the fight of keep strong raids um let's have a look sometimes I just feel like we don't need to change filters too much we simply need although I really love that a lot it's looks really high key and d separated my black and white quite monochromatic the softness of this is very beautiful and the warmth in it is I actually like the cold one I'm going to go with noon day sun in color I'm going to apply it I'm going to drop back the top layer and as you can see at the stage I'm getting very repetitive um this is my system of how I like to make it work I use a lot of the same go to filters I very really go outside of them because they don't need to I find ones that work I stick with them for a while until I get bored and then they change them up retouch exactly the same way I'm going to dodge into their eyes to lift them out and let's have a look at how much detail is in the eyes so that's el streib itself speed let's have a look at the eyes that's all stroh love that and love that so I'm definitely choosing natural and stride by speed I'm going to go to the dodge outside of the iris inside of the iris just to lift the eyes exactly the same here victor the same so remembering there is more of a catch like in their natural light shots however we can put a catch like light directly into her light just to brighten here eyes up when we shooting the strobes which is what we talked about today like one of those and so I'll save them as natural stroke in speed light

This is the best lighting class I've done, including several in-person ones. Covers so much, and the contrast between and dialogue about the two styles (natural vs studio) was so helpful. I didn't think there was anything at all negative about how Sue spoke with Felix, which a few reviewers said. Clearly she has great respect for him, which she sincerely says at one point, and explains why. Wonderful to see specifically how they both shape light. So many topics are covered. Loved Felix's clear and specific explanations about studio lighting. This class is worth every penny.

This was a fantastic introduction to studio lighting, and one of the best courses I've watched on Creative Live. I've only ever done natural light photos, but I want to learn more about studio lights because I'm creating a basement studio. I'm already a big fan of Sue's approach to portraiture. Now I'm a fan of Felix's soft lighting approach, too. In this course, he demonstrates how to replicate natural light portraits with a simple lighting setup. With a big scrim, a strobe or constant lamp, and v-flats, you can do so much! I'll be watching this course again.
