Camera Controls: Exposure Control
it is time to dive into the camera control. So what we're gonna be doing in the section is taking a tour of the outside of the camera and talking about what everything does and how to use it. All right, let's start with some basic information here, turning the camera on and off very quick. Start up. When you do that, the camera wants to automatically clean the sensor, which is a good thing. Case. A little bit of dust somehow gets on there. It'll knock that dust off with its ultrasonic vibration Little sensor cover on there. So hopefully eliminate that dust problems. The back of the camera has the selector. I will probably forget this name and call it the up, down left right controller on, and this allows you to navigate through the menu system. You could move focusing points. You can make selections as you go throughout the menu system, so that's a very important one. In the middle is the menu button, but it's also the okay, this is your confirmation button. If you highlight a setting ...
and you like that's the one I want, you're gonna probably hit the okay button to select it. We have a couple of dials. We have a dial on the front of the camera, and it's important to note that this is not only a dial, it is also a button. So not only can you turn it, you can push it in and will be able to program that as we go throughout this class, the rear dial is the same way. The command I'll back there. You can turn it with your thumb, but you can also push in on it to activate various features. The camera also has a touchscreen that could be used in many instances, for instance, for selecting focus points and firing the shutter. And so we'll be talking about that as we go in there. So there's a lot of different ways that you can control various features on this particular camera. Now the shutter release is very important because it is a two stage device, as it is in most cameras. By pressing halfway down, you'll wake the camera up. If the camera is in its sleep mode, it'll activate the metering system. It'll activate the focusing system, and at any time you are in the menu and you're kind of just want to get out of the menu, and you want to go take a photo press lightly on the shutter, release to that halfway position, and it will automatically kick the camera into its standard picture taking mode. Of course, you're gonna press all the way down to shoot a photo, and you just want to get comfortable with that halfway position on this camera because it's what activates a lot of different things. Now, by pressing halfway down, it does activate the focusing system, and something that has become very popular with modern cameras is a feature called Back Button Auto Focus. And that is where you use a button on the back of the camera to focus. And the shutter release button is Onley in charge of taking photos. And if you want to do that on this camera, you can you can turn off the shudder a F by diving into the set up men you into a feature called Button Dial, setting page two of three and go into the shutter a off and turn it off. And so, as you see, these boxes pop up throughout the class today, these are shortcuts that I'm gonna give you so that you can go ahead and stop the video and go make that change right then and there if you choose to. If not, don't worry. We're gonna come back through the menu system, and I'll talk more about that particular feature later on in the class when I get to that section in the menu. Now, the shutter release on this is kind of cool because it uses thes standard traditional threaded cable release. And so anyone who has one of the relatively inexpensive mechanical cable releases can use it on this camera. The camera does also have an electronic cable release if you want something more modern. But for any of you who have one of these old cable releases, you can screw that right into the shutter release and use that very, very easily.

I loved this class! How much did I love this class? I loved this class and I don't even have an X-T3! I have the Fujifilm X100V, a camera similar enough to the X-T3 that this class easily covered 85% - 90% of the features on my camera. It's also a camera new enough that there isn't much available on how to use it. This class got the job done for me. Well done, John!
