Camera Overview
so. Fuji's system of cameras has been growing over the last few years, and they do have a variety of cameras out there. They have a great collection of lenses. It's not huge in number yet it's growing fairly quickly, but it is very high in quality now. The cameras that Fuji has out right now, the difference between them in my mind. A lot of it lies in the viewfinder system of them. Some of the lower in cameras do not have view finders, or they may have a center style viewfinder like an SLR camera. Whereas this range finder style has the V Finder off to one side, and the X T two and the X Pro two are kind of dual flagship models from Fuji and Fuji is a little bit different. Usually, most camera companies have one camera that is clearly the top of the line has all the best features, and with Fuji, they're kind of going in two different directions with the two different systems, both the X Pro two and the X t two. And so we'll talk a little bit more about that as we go through the class, ...
but we're gonna be concentrating on the X Pro two in this particular class. Now this camera is a professionally styled camera. It's well built. It does have some Karen handling warnings that you should worry about. You know, for instance, don't use this camera in the bathroom or shower. It does say that in the instruction manual, don't use the camera while walking or driving. So some other good advice in there in general. Don't be stupid with it. And so I think we all know about that. The one thing that a lot of people have questions on is the weatherproof nous of the camera. And as Fuji states, this is dust proof splash proof body with 61 weather seals. And just a few lines later, they say, do not use near water s. So it's a little hard to get an exact fix on how much rain you can be out in before there's gonna be a problem on the camera. So first thing to note is, not all of the Fuji lenses are weather resistant, and so that is something that you will see listed on the lenses will talk about that when we get to the lens section. And so some lenses air, weather resistant Some are not. And so you definitely want to be more careful if you have a lens that is not weather resistant on. If it's raining, you can probably go out and shoot photos, and it's not gonna be a problem for a while. I wouldn't want to shoot a football game for hours outside in the rain. I would probably want to have a rain cover on the camera and so short periods of time. You're probably gonna be okay, but you still need to take precautions if things get really wet for a long period of time. So let's make sure your camera is ready for today's class. You're gonna wanna have a charge. Battery takes about 2.5 hours. You'll need a lens on the camera. You want at least one memory card in slot one of the camera and turn the camera on. Now the automatic exposure on this camera works a little bit differently than other cameras, and so many lenses will either have an aperture ring that could be turned to a or they'll have an actual switch on it that could be turned to, and I'm gonna turn mind A Right now, the shutter speed dial on the top can be turned to a so that the camera is automatically controlling cheddar speeds. And as far as the focusing system, there's gonna be a little dial on the front. We'll talk more about this later. You can have it in s or C s is we're gonna have mine for right now and then I'm just gonna go ahead and turn the camera on and make sure that my camera let's get this turned on properly here and make sure my camera is firing. So my camera's ready. Hopefully your cameras ready, and now we're ready to move on to the next section. All right, So before we get too far into this class, we do want to do a little check on firm where the, uh, the software in the camera is what's called the firmware. And Fuji has been a little bit more quick on the run, you might say, than any of the other companies at updating their firmware. And so you can check the firmware in your camera by pressing the display back button and turning the camera on And so let me go ahead and do that with my camera here. And let's just make sure that I have the right software running on my camera. So what I'm going to do with my camera is I'm gonna press the display back button, and now I'm gonna turn the camera on, and now you can see that I have body version one point. Oh, to I'm not gonna worry about the lens version right now. We'll talk about that one a little bit later. So this camera that I'm teaching with today has version 1.2 All right, so now if you have version one point a one or 1.0 Fuji at their website has an updated firmware that you can get. And so the way that you can get that is just by simply going to the Internet and looking up Fuji firmware table and you'll get a listing of all the firm wears for all the Fuji products in what the process of getting that onto your camera is basically gonna be, is checking your camera, downloading the appropriate software to your computer? Transferring that onto a memory card, putting the memory card in your camera and then checking the firmware like we've just done here. And it will ask you about updating the new firmware you say. OK, it takes a few minutes and you get the new firmware on the camera Now. Just a zai was getting ready to deliver this class. Fuji announced that they're going to be introducing version 2.0, off their firmware, and that will be coming out in October of 2016. And the recording of this class is before October of 2016. So I haven't seen a camera with this firmware on it, but they have announced what it's going to do. So let's go over what the new firmware is going to dio. It's got a new auto focusing algorithm, which is going to make the focusing a little bit more accurate and a little bit faster. Whether that has any effect on the way that we operate the camera or make selections, I don't know, I kind of doubt it. I think this is just kind of behind the hood tweaking of the engine. You might say they've introduced a new flash, the E f X this camera will now have compatibility with it. So if you have a version like I have right now at 1. and you get the new flash, it may not work. And you just simply need to upload the new software to your camera. Third of fourth changes is that the auto power off option in the camera in the menu system that will talk about towards the end of class will have a new 15 32nd and one minute option. And so they'll just be a couple of new items that will see in the menu system that you can select from in that case. And the fourth item is that there is a parallax correction improvement, which is gonna make the parallax a little bit more accurate and a little bit easier to use. Now what is this is what does this actually mean in day to day use? I don't know. I haven't seen a camera that has it yet. It's probably gonna be a fairly minor tweak of those particular features at all. If there are significant upgrades with the camera in the future, I will come back to the class and I will do a little update video to get everyone up to speed on the new firmware updates. But the's Cindy be rather small, fine tuning tweaks that we probably won't be doing a video for unless there's something significant that I didn't realize at this time, all right.
