1. Class Introduction

I’ve put this course together to teach you one of my workflows for, non-destructively, editing, and branding, a spherical panoramic photo, or sometimes called a 360 photo—and we’ll do this using Photoshop and After Effects. And don’t worry if you’ve never used Photoshop or After Effects before, I’ll be going through my process step-by-step.

Class Introduction

Hi everybody and welcome to editing 360 photos with Photoshop and after effects. My name is Chris Converse and I'm going to be sharing with you a bunch of techniques and workflows that I use with both after effects Photoshop to take an image that looks like this and turn it into something that looks like this. Throughout the course, we're going to be adding a sunset, compositing another image of the sky and placing that in here, doing color adjustments and adding two dimensional artwork so that we can take an image and create something like this in a 3 60 photo. Um and don't worry if you've never used after Effects or Photoshop before, I'm going to be walking through my process step by step. So you'll be able to follow along even if you've never used either the applications before. And so here's a little bit about what we're gonna be doing. We're gonna be starting with this photo here. Um doesn't look that great. It was taken on an overcast day. And what we're gonna do is we're gonna s...

tart by removing the tripod and table across the bottom. We're going to clean up the grass and the patio, make it look fantastic. Next we're going to add in a sky, we're going to take a sky from another 360 photo and put it into this particular image. Then we're going to add a sunset using some effects inside of after effects and do some color adjustments to sell the overall effect. And finally, we're gonna be adding some two dimensional artwork and fitting this into the bottom of the spherical panorama or the 3 60 photo. So the ending result will be something that when we post this on social media or use this in google street view, you'll have this logo that shows up here at the bottom. So with that, that's everything we're gonna be doing throughout the course. In the next video, we're going to talk about the software that you'll need. Um, and don't worry if you don't have a 360 camera, um the images that we're gonna be using are being supplied in the class materials. So with that, let's continue on and get started.

In Lesson 8 I would highly recommend grouping the layers into a folder named "Components," then duplicate it and turn the duplicate into a smart layer. Then rename the smart layer "Composite," or something like that. Then turn off the group of layers leaving only the composite layer displayed. This way the files remains editable for future lawn/image cleaning. The way the instructor did it would delete all of the layers for potential future editing.
