1:30 pm - Creating a Simple Cluster Page

Let's dio a layout here so this is where actually you know what? I wonder if I have one that has a thumb? Neil, that I could show you maybe I down let's put together this lay out right here. So this is a this is made by a with a cluster from snickerdoodle designs by karen, it has a little bit of a digit kit with it and a cluster and then some text so it has not too many layers. We've got the background we've got the year and this is going to start really becoming easy to you. Now, after the first day, you should be able to put together a simple page, so I'm going to start with creating it from a background page. So we've got this is called this forty sas clusters and there's papers in there. So these are some samples of parts of a digit kit and, you know, they come maybe a couple dollars for the whole kit, and you get all these different papers, so when you are creating something, you do wanna have a little fun meal sit next. You know, I wish I had one that I could show you, I think in...

next tomorrow segment, I do have some thumbnails, but you're gonna have it probably sitting right next to you so that you're not just putting stuff together, but in this case, that the way it's going to turn out was going to look like I don't know if you get him in here or not, but it's going to be like this and I showed you the final um one too, but it's just going to be a couple of of pages from did you scrap and then you're gonna have a little bit of journaling here is well, so we're going to pick a paper out and this is the one number pick and this is going to be twelve by twelve, so you're going to know twelve by twelve by pulling up your rulers got the rulers there and then I'm just going to start building the page when a file and open and let's, just go ahead and put this paper on top of that that'll work out pretty good. Click on quick question from road will just want to make sure whether the layouts come from this is a kid designed by snickerdoodle designs by karen. Great, thanks. Yeah it's called sporty fast and you could probably find it on her in her store. But it comes with a ton. This is just like one fifth of what you get with that whole whole kit, thank you for all these papers. So I'm going to take a slice out of the papers just like when you're doing digital scrapbooking you you go in there and use your cutter, but we're going to use our digital tools instead so I'm gonna go in there and I'm going tio pull in my elliptical or not my lip to public my rectangle marquis tool and I'm just going to take a slice out of this one click and drag and I'm gonna cut out that piece go over to my move tool, drag it, and once I get in here, you'll see that it kind of highlights around there with white and then drop it and you can move it to whatever location that she wanted to be, and then I can close up the paper and the cool thing about it you can use that paper over and over again. You can use that paper for a background for the next did you can't or just use the whole book, you khun design with that particular kit? And I think you were asking earlier somebody was asking earlier what if you want like a holiday digit kit, just type in, you know, whatever holiday it is digital scrapbook kit and you'll be able to find probably about did she kits today and tomorrow? Okay, tomorrow I believe is that okay the day yeah I'm kind of thinking to we do have some organization questions related to that you know we'll hold it for them but it's a great question I'm glad it you're forgetting yes we'll do that I believe it's tomorrow afternoon but will be working just with digit kits and talking a little bit more about you know where you can find them and things like that great all right so we got that layer I can go over here I can name it whatever later I want to maybe I let name it flower layer flower um this background it's locked down there so that's kind of good because sometimes when you get in a hurry you click and you drag and you move that background so that background is locked in there I'm gonna go ahead and bring in my next layer which is going to be the cluster we're gonna talk about clusters in more detail but I just thought well let's go ahead and get this cluster and they're so in this kit sd sporty sas clusters there's all different kinds that you can choose from let's just try let's just try this one for now but we're going to end up using another one but I want to show you how easy these air get to use so this is very very detailed if you zoom in really really close you can see how detailed it is and I can just take take this drag and drop it into my page that should copy and paste in there and again, this went in the behind that flower layer, so I'm just going to drag it and drop it above, and you can alter it, rotate it, do whatever you want, teo. Um, and then this's there's room for two photos on this one. Whereas the other one, I'm just going to bring in one photo. But when I was talking about quick pages and did you kids and clusters that's what? This is it's a cluster. Do you ever work with clusters out there? Anybody on the internet studio on video audio? What? You work with clusters? Yeah. How do you use them? Well, when I wantto put a whole bunch of pictures in a nice frame, yeah, that's when I used clusters that it seems to be a lot easier than placing individual photos on the paige. Yeah, itjust spices it up a little bit if you want to do a postcard, or if you just want to use part of it for your layout. It's, the quick way of not having you to do your own designs. And everybody has. Everybody works with this in so many different ways, you know, you can if you're a hobbyist and you are wanting to do everything from scratch if you have a lot of time and that's what you love to dio you can do it from scratch, but in this case a lot of people don't have a whole lot of time and they just want to use clusters and did you kids so that's why we're kind of combining all of it together just to create a quick page all right, so when you want to commit, commit it, click on the check mark and then you're good we have some feedback about how other people use cluster ok, you're ready for that yet it just takes us a minute so yeah, yeah, so blogger girls says yes, they do use clusters but they also use the clipping mass tool when they work with them and wants to know how you feel about that we weren't going to get into clipping actually, we are like a hex. We are going to talk about clipping masks. Okay, so that's just a little bit of feedback. Yeah, right. Good. Yeah, totally no and that's what we use clipping maths for, uh the templates as well when we work with template. So we're talking about that because that's getting into the intermediate level, which is awesome because like I said at the beginning of class, it's called the introduction to digital scrapbooking but I think for three days just working on the basic stuff would be like uh we need to kind of dip it dip into the introduction are intermediate as well, so we'll be doing that more so in day two and three once we get everything down as faras like how to move things around and and using the basics all right, cool good questions out there so let's just bring in this cluster here and I'm going to take my move till move it on in okay and calls on out and I'm just going to bring in a photo and put it right behind that cluster so it'll act as a frame pretty much is what what it does file and open find that photo that's the one and we can bring in the whole thing if we want to or we could just bring in bits and pieces of it, but I'm just gonna go ahead and bring in the whole thing large testa bix, I don't think I had the original and I will pull that drag it, drop it below and then we can add the text, so if you position it, you just go ahead and usual arrow keys to position it wherever you need thio ah cool, another cool thing about this is you don't have to use the colors that the designer created you could do what's called adjustment layer and what you do is you just go into the layer itself and go up tio the second icon over it looks like a circle with black on one side and white on the other it's called an adjustment layer, so I click on that I could go into hue and saturation, and I can colorize that background to whatever color is appropriate. So if you wanted to change this up and change it to a different color, these adjustment layers are awesome. I don't want to mess around with it, but the thing is, is that it doesn't really affect that layer below it, so now I'm changing it to blue um if I don't like it, I can always turn it off, but that's what's called adjustment layer, and a lot of people probably really want to use that because if you wanted to change your colors, yeah, that would be a good way to get to do it. All right, so I'm gonna go ahead and delete that layer, all right? So we're just going to bring in a couple more elements in here, maybe another piece of paper that goes, um, horizontally, let's, go file and open, I'm gonna go back into the papers and see what else we want we don't want to use let's, just try this one here, bring that on in and also what we can ask the internet out there too is where today if some of them go out and buy did you kids where are there they purchasing him from see what? Maybe if you guys out there want to tell us where you purchased your did you kids or even if you haven't purchased any um I can still get you some more names but it would be kind of interesting to see if anybody is if there's a favorites out there or not well as for more but we have one that already came in okay because the great thing about being in chat especially in the on topic is that you can pass back and forth three sources on one that has come out is scrapbooking about dot com and sending some christmas scrapbooking pages that are just more holiday themed so but also mentioned there's a lot of resource is so one has come in we'll ask for more good yeah no it was always good because I think there's a big community out there the scrap booker's air like a community I think I was talking to you guys about there's even cruises that people go on teo get together and do their scrapbook pages and stuff not well I think probably digital designers are doing it as well as their starting to go over to thie digital world but I do know that there have cruises out there and a lot of my members, they'll talk about in facebook, they'll talk about where they were the weekend before, a lot of grandmothers get together, I think it's so much fun, they get together and they share their pictures of their grandchildren and they all work together and share different supplies and all that kind of stuff. So it's a big community out there, fun people too nice, so I got into it. Now we're going to go ahead and put a drop shot on this so that it kind of stands out a little bit more and click on it, go into the effects, and I'm just going to go ahead and use a close out of this adjustment layer. They're going to go into the just of spit standard drop shadow, we can put drop shuttles in a couple different things because it does kind of make it look a little bit more three d if you do that so now it's looking a little bit better, we still want to add a little bit of text gonna put a little text on the right hand side in the very upper area. We're just going to put the word aspen, the little girl's name and then the, um, two thousand thirteen in the bottom, get the text tool I'm gonna go ahead and use a white click one time I just always go ahead and click and and make it the size that it is, and then I enlarged to the size that I needed to be bounce back over to my layers panel, and I've got that in there, and I think I don't know if I really need to go through this part again, but I'm just gonna click and drag type in from breaking in there and copy and paste it just to make it look like a halfway decent layout. And I believe those who purchase will get this kit as well, ever everything hit that I'm using you will get all these kids if you need to do that. Great. Great. We have a couple more resource is if you cut the alehouse designs. Dot com has freebies available on dh then judy stole says that they subscribe to the digital scrapper or scrappers guide, which is on the monthly. Well, they say it's among monthly thing that comes via subscription each month you get four videos, at least a dozen papers. Ah, whole bunch of elements and clusters. They really love it. Yeah. Can you say that one more time, owl house, the kind dot com, and then the digital scrapper or scrappers guide, yeah, are you able to build your own? Like little kit to my hand yeah, okay and that's what a lot of people do want to get past this stage they want to do their own and I'm going to show you how to make papers and textured papers and all that kind of stuff up the death on day three the first segment but how you can create your own papers using brushes and changing the color saving them off but there are some of my members who want they aspire to be digital scrapbook er's scrap kit designers and that's why I kind of brought in karen because she specializes in how to do all this intricate stuff that's where I kind of step back and say you teach that part thiss part and uh it's pretty cool though because there are a lot of people that might make a living at doing that and that's what they do and they sell all these all over in there on ly a couple dollars but when they sell hundreds of them it kind of adds up so it's pretty fun we have more listen growing doing here a few more active the coffee shop blogged dot com and also the shabby shop let's jump with extra p in an extra e like that one right and digital scrapbooking studio dot com and designer digital stop remember designer digitals to there's like the shabby chic or something like that as well shabby something the shabby shop I just gotta shop, but there's something else sheiks. Something wrong with that? But, yeah, if you just google to, you're going to find a bunch but it's good to know where they're coming from because, you know, there are some that stand out that are really, really, um, classier than others. So it's, always good teo to keep up with that. Okay, so then we're almost pretty much done with. I like to keep layout simple, but you could keep adding photos on here. I don't know we normally do more than three or four photos per page, but some people they'll put like twenty five photos in a page. So whatever, you know, whatever you want to dio there's, no rule to digital scrapbooking, which is kind of nice, but, you know, it depends on how big it's going to be a swell so you don't have tio stick, too. A number of how many photos are going to be on there, but a lot of people just put one, two, maybe three different photos on one page.
