The Webpage Essentials

Let's talk about number 10. The last thing. So this is your web page essentials. Excuse me. So sorry for this long block quote, but I had to actually put in the whole thing for you. So dr Hong Xiang at Missouri University of Science used an eye tracking software with an infrared camera to monitor eye movements as participants scanned websites, specific features drew the most attention. So he found there was certain things that people look for when they're on a website and I wanted to highlight the top things he will look for when they're on a website First, the logo. This really surprising by the way, I was surprised to see that people actually look at the logo or glances really is glances with eye tracking software. It's very very quick sweeping glances. People typically look at your logo first so make sure that your logo fits into your brand in every way, shape and form, especially with colours. The search box was a big one, especially if it came up in the upper fold. And I think the...

reason for that is because it makes people, especially if they are hi conscientious or low open. People who are high content Anderson low open. They want to know transparency. They want to be able to find what they want to find when they want to find it. And so a search box, the indication of a search box, even if they don't use it actually it's a transparency queue for them. Social networking links. So again that social proof searching for social proof and things that are familiar to you, it's another way that you can add credibility. You're upset is actually by using social media logos. Your primary image. That's what we've been talking about a lot. Is that one image especially if it's a human. And then lastly people will scroll all the way down to the bottom. Look at the website footer. Do you know what's on your website footer? A lot of people don't put any thought into the bottom of their profiles. So what you'll see is, and I think this is the same on dating profiles and I haven't done a formalized experience experiment on this. But I watch people use profiles all the time and people will read the F pattern. They look at your photo, your headline, the first few lines they scroll all the way down to the bottom of your profile. I look at the very last line and then we'll scroll back up or click away. So on your profile, what is your last line on your website? What's in your website footer? So here's your challenge, Make sure that you add and or optimize these areas, your logo, your search box, your social networking links, primary Image and your website footer or your profile footer. So when we look at this, your hand out the handout for you is looking at your assets. What impression are you giving off now? So if you look at your headshot, what impression are giving off? If you look at your business cards, If you look at your email signature, what are the three words that come to mind at first, what do you want your three words to be? And then one of the things you can either eliminate or add to optimize those digital assets you're eliminating. Ad section are your action steps after this webinar, your homework after this webinar. Those the challenges that I hope that you can take away with.
