Who hasn't gone who's up for t t l um do you think we could throw an umbrella on that one real quick if that's the one that you just undo real quick, I want to show you actually you don't have a clear on just take this off and handed to me in, um, in defense of the simplest way possible to be able to light something I want to show you what I mean by the umbrella. Are you ready? You wanna introduce yourself shake hand from maryland? Maryland? You're my puppies. Yes. Ok, so we're just going to simply sit down here. We're gonna all right. So if you saw this is the silver side inside of there, uh, umbrella they also have a white one. Um, it's, uh, deepen, not as deep options. And then you just like you would an umbrella on ben. You slide it in, and this is the extent of how I will modify my lighting in that amazing that's. What I mean by simple, the soft boxes are a little more work to put on, right? How long would you say it took you to put it on just from scratch? Five, ten minutes. Yeah...
, and they get a little more complicated based on the size of the like the octo back doesn't was confusing one s so if I'm going to do something right here and then I've got this octu it back let's just start with just the umbrella because this is the one that I just moved around a lot member I mentioned I used it like in a hospital is an ivy um I am setting up the remote. This is going to read it for me, which is probably turn it on, go back like this, okay, and then shoot against the tv. Is this what this one is already on with the box? Let's? Just check it real quick. Okay? It's got a nice little test. You can think it ahs well, a set up the high speed sync how do you feel about having a camera pointed at your face? So are you feeling good? All right, so we've got an umbrella pointed right at her and she also has some glasses. We're going to just see what we get here. It's uh this one's a bit hot for me. I'm going to soften this up a little bit by simply adjusting my aperture. I was at a one eight. There you go a little bit, yes, thank you and it's gonna go ahead and read my new exposure right away for me it's a pretty big difference, huh? On dh then if I see a little bit of the uh I'm going to see a little bit of glare in those classes I wanna just a hair it's come this way yeah good down in this way and up a little bit hey there you go beautiful I mean more well actually it's still pretty soft I'm gonna actually then this is my solution then is to raise it and to dip down like the son all right I like how you bring it look to your people say hi I love you I feel like I just met you all right and then you come back to me and now we actually look at that real quick like that shot see how the glare is gone all right come back to me exactly just as we were straight on queen for just a little bit should not there we go and then turn your chin slightly towards them and then glance back at me I just want to show you what a little bit of this maneuvering khun dio so we have no blast, claire once we moved it up and filtered it down and this is the also the easiest trick in the book too is just to do a little bit and tilt back but if you could go back one let me do that without your eyes a little close to seven nights for example of you I think I got you to the yes, I did. Um you khun see kind of a few different angles there. Yeah, and so that's nice and you can see through to that is a big question. I get a lot is about glass player and that's a really simple way to solve this. Can you explain again about the battery packs and how that works so you can take these out in the field, etcetera? Oh, yeah. E, um literally these go on a kind of like a camera camera strap. He'd have this on here. Did these come with that with camera strap that's the battery. I'll show you that one too. Okay, so might have a camera like a strap that you could just put it on your shoulder or you can wrap it around your chest similar to kind of a laptop bag. And the nice thing is, like that ultra portability I will. When I mentioned earlier that I had the stand that I just walked around, I just literally had it hanging off of this everywhere went so just wheeled around. It was so nice, not literally wheeled around there, no wheels on ten, but I just kind of pulled it everywhere it was really easy you can see right here the battery usage on it it's really obvious similar to just like on your camera you just watching the battery drop when I get down to just one bar you can just take this out and pop in a new one and it is a simple as that mine has what makes it that little uh what makes it that little carrying case thing actually puts it in a little protector it's it's almost like it has a little jacket and you just got to pull it out the jacket poppet that got to keep going so we have two batteries we keep in charge of all time we go out and shoot on the recycle time on these is amazing it's for for strobes very very fast I could do burst mode and get my shots which is very cool and I will have the extra backup batteries so that no matter how much for shooting a few hours in I can pop in the new battery and keep going and just really go anywhere I want with that type of system are you limited to just two lights or can you actually add on oh yeah you got what you wanted yeah you're definitely not limited to two lights some people just buy one and then slowly add on a second I find I'm always using the two not always but most of time using two in a situation where I said that it's kind of tough to navigate then I may just use the umbrella gets a nice clean spread but for the most part especially out in fields and stuff I just love being ableto add that extra splash a light behind people it's really nice yeah but you can keep adding on if you want tio um then diffuser and scram I think that's pretty straight board right you guys totally got it about the diffuser and scream that's just holding ah large diffuser in front of a bright light and calming it down I can certainly show you again if you'd like tomorrow I just wanted to ask what is and this is from because a couple votes in the terrans what is the difference between using an umbrella or a soft box? So just as you were, yang last drops the difference between using an umbrella and a soft boxes faras light shapers go you have a number of different options and a lot of that I honestly believe for me is about personal preference what I what I want this is literally like reflecting this is a reflector I have a light it's getting bounced it's coming back nice and soft as it relates to the easiest way to have a nice soft light I love this a lot of people will argue for the silver reverses the white interiors I don't really have much of opinion I tend to use the white um azi the difference being that and an octo or the general saw fox is a couple things this to me is probably the most flattering of all the lights. Having this really close to a subject's face is a very flattering look. You can also add a beauty dish on top of the b two's we have that in our studio as well, which is a cool, very different look, a nice hard case light that will give you a very different look in the eyes as well. To me, the octo is probably most flattering. The larger soft box is the easiest and simplest for families, and the umbrella is the one that if I want the most simplicity in a really soft light, I will take that pop it out anywhere. I mean, if you think about it, if you look at it, the light and this is a luxury for me, we don't even usually like sand it when we're out, I'll just hand it to an assistant, and this is the whole kit right here, like, if I want to keep it really simple, I've got this, you saw how I'm just doing this and it's, this is it, so a lot of people think this is a really big pain in the butt to bring places, but I can just do this in this with the pack on my shoulder, and have an incredible amount of light shaping tools, I can't say that is easily about this. Yes, the soft box fold up into a really simple little envelope that you can throw in a backpack. That's, actually, true, it's. Just if I want to just throw something down and keep going, which is how I like to shoot. This is the favorite choice for that.

Tamara's appreciation for love and family are so apparent in her style of interaction with people and methods of photographing them. In this class she shares everything from the basics of connecting with your clients to the importance of in person sales sessions and how to do them without being uncomfortable. I love Tamara's energy and sense of humor. She really emphasizes how important it is to be self confident and love what you do. This class is amazing. I can barely sit still through a movie these days, but I was entranced through 3 consecutive days of highly valuable information. I am thankful to have this class in my CL library. I am sure I will refer to it often.

Thank you! Thank you for bringing Tamara back to Creative Live! She is one of my favorite teachers! She has a bubbly effervescence as she teaches. What can I say- it's Tamara Lackey, so of course it was AMAZING! I learned so much, about relationships, self awareness, lighting, portraiture, posing, gear, marketing, products, I could just go on and on. Tamara has an incredible ability to truly connect with her clients (and her students)- and she taught us how to do it! I admire Tamara on so many levels and I appreciate how much of herself and her own business practices she was willing to share. Her new organization Beautiful Together is inspiring.
