Left Side, Bottom, Front of Camera, and Lenses

so let's continue on her way. So over on the left side of the camera, not too much going on. We do have a little flip switch for the flash to pop it up to bring the flash down. You just manually push the flash down and it clips back in. There is a little door that gives us access to a couple of little ports on the side of the camera. We do have an external plug for a microphone. If you do want better quality sound when you are recording movies, highly recommend adding in a microphone. Digital terminal will allow us to download from our camera to our computers. We have the WiFi signal. I don't know why you need to know where this is, but this is where it's coming out of the camera. And so that's where you want to have at least not blocked up too much. Over on the right hand side, we have in HD my plugs. So if you wanted to watch movies or look at your photos on an HD TV, this is how you would plug the camera on the bottom of the camera. We have our door for our battery and memory card i...

n here. It takes the L P E 17 and the Associated Charger with it, which comes supplied with it. Standard tripod socket allows you to hook it up to all the standard tripods, mono pods and other support accessories. We have an in mark. This is the NFC. This camera will work with NFC devices as well to transfer. There's a lot of android devices out there, and more and more devices that have this device. It's a wireless transfer system that doesn't require you to go through as many steps in the set up menu that we did in the WiFi menu. But you do have to have the device within a couple of inches of the camera, and so you could download images and offload images from the camera to your phone. If it has that device, we're not gonna get into the specifics of it. But it works in a similar manner, as does WiFi. But for remote shooting, you want to use the WiFi. This is just for downloading images. The camera uses secure digital memory cards, very common memory card on the market. Be aware that there is a lock switch, and every once in a while, your camera says it can't communicate to the card. It's because the lots lock switch accidentally got flipped to the down position. The size of the card will determine whether it's an SD or an S THC or an XY version of the card. The speed of the card is how fast the camera can write and read information off of it. In this particular camera. It's not a big deal. I wouldn't spend a lot of extra money for the fastest cards on the market. This camera just can't take advantage of those. Then there is the minimum speed of the card, and this is gonna be a little bit more important for people who shoot a lot of video. If you do shoot a lot of video, you do. You know what you're gonna want to look for memory cards with a Class 10 rating or higher. As I had mentioned, you can download straight from the camera to the computer. It's a relatively slow process, so I highly recommend getting one of the card readers or plugging the card directly into the computer. If you have that slot available to you and then something that's wives to do is once you have downloaded your images and you are sure that you have got him backed up is to format the card, which clears off all the extra information that is sometimes put on the cards that they don't really need. And it helps. The card function for the longest period of time is good way to keep the card nice and clean, but it does delete all your photographs. Be careful when doing that on the front of the camera. We do have stereo microphones to get better quality sound, but any microphone attached to the vice that is recording the video is gonna have some problems, which is why that external mike could be very valuable for a lot of people. There is a little lamp there which will help under low light conditions for focusing. But this is also something that you can turn off in the custom functions. The lens release right here is something that you'll press to turn and get the lens off so that we have access to changing and moving on are different lenses. If you haven't changed lenses on this, you know, I think a lot of people who buy this camera only get it with one lens. It's a very simple little process. We're just going to press in on the button and give the lens a short little turn here. And we're looking at this white dot on the lens and matching it up with white dot on the lens mount, so we'll match him up right there and flip it off. There's a little lock pin you can actually see the pen that's working right over here on the right hand side is you look at the front of the camera that's just locking it in. So line it up, turn it till it clicks, and you're good to go with the new lens on the camera 24 megapixel sensor in this camera so it's pretty up to date with number of pixels. The CPU contacts communicate with the context on lens. Want to make sure they're not broken or afraid or something, blocking them the lens mount for mounting up your different lenses. We talked about that, and then if you do want to get that remote control sensor, that is what you need to plant it at for it to receive the signal. It's an infrared receiver, so it works a little like a TV remote doesn't work over really long distances or, in really, really bright situations sometimes but handy for getting in the camera or not touching the camera in order to fire it. There's not a lot of lenses that are available directly for this camera, but the 18 to 55 it's the standard kit lands. It's a good basic lands for general photography. It's what I have on my camera right now. Probably the most popular second lens would be the telephoto 50 50 to 200 millimeter. This is gonna be good for sports or landscape type photography, where subjects are much further away from you. The 11 to 22 is there wide angle lens. If you want to shoot, you know interiors and have a big expanse from side to side. This is gonna be the choice to go with for those situations. If you want something just really small and light, there is 3 22 millimeter F two pancake lands, and for those of you who want a general purpose lens but want something a little bit wider angle. They do have the 15 to 45 which gets you a little bit more wide angle on there. But, uh is not as much in the telephoto range. And so these were the only five lenses that they currently have with in the system for the might for this for this size. Now, if you're new to lenses, that 18 to is the focal length of the lens. And 27 is a normal focal length, which means not wide angle, not telephoto. And so this lens is giving you a little bit of wide angle and a little bit of telephoto. The numbers down below the 3.5 to 5.6 are the maximum apertures at the various focal ing, so it does shift a little bit as you zoom the lens back and forth. Now, Canon has a lot of lens technologies, and they're often very excited about some of them, and they give him letters then and so E FM is the Elektronik muralists format that they happen. So that is the ones that fit directly onto the camera without any sort of adapters, and the other one stepper motor is a very smooth focusing motor that works well for still and video and the can. Or this lens also has image stabilization built in on the lens, which can be turned on and off in the camera. So one of the other things that you can do with this is you can use any of the other canon lenses with the Eos adapter on this camera. So this opens up a whole world of photography because there were so many Eos lenses out there and so many people who owned Eos lenses. And so I have the Eos adapter here in front of me here and just do a quick little demo and show you if I wanted to mount a standard 50 millimeter lens on my camera, I would first take off our standard lens right here. And then I have are adapter, which he's gonna have no glass in it. So this is no glass. It's just a physical adapter. And this is not gonna work because I have little tripod adapter on the bottom. So I'm gonna quickly take this off because I have it mounted on a tripod right now mounted up white to the white. Turn it on And then I got red dot on this land's mount This on here. And so now I have a 50 millimeter lens, which is a nice short telephoto lens on this, and the camera works as just a normal. There's really no change at all in the function of the camera. And I just have the small adapter on here so that I can use any of the canon lenses on here. And so this has been a pretty popular camera for people who already own canon lenses but just won a small, lightweight camera that, Hey, if I want to use my other lenses, I can't. And so it does a very good job at that here. All right, And so if you are interested in knowing more about canon lenses, a little class that I have put together is this two day class on canon lenses. And so, if you want to know more about canon lenses, all the technology and which lenses to use for different types of subject, this is, I think, the most complete class you're going to find on canon lenses anywhere that I have seen. And so it's a great encyclopedia in the lens world for canon lenses

I am a complete beginner with photography, I've only used my phone until now. I bought my camera about 3 weeks ago and I've really struggled, as, for example, the manual says turn the dial to select, not which dial, or how to get to the correct place, setting or menu, so that the dial will then work. I'm only up to the 5th lesson and I feel that I understand my camera so much more. I wish I had bought this on the first day. I'm not connected to this company, author or anything else, I was just frustrated, and feeling like giving up as I couldn't get an unblurred photo on my new camera. Thank you so much for this wonderful, easy to understand and follow guide.

I wasn't too impressed by the M3 until I found this course. It changed my whole outlook. John gives a great delivery and fully explains in plain English.
