6-8 Month Olds: Chair Shot and Baby Food

I thought you said you don't live a little curl in front. John brought up a really good question, she's like you have the parents that normally I have parents helped me with all sessions. I brought lauren with me. Lauren doesn't normally assist me on these. She assists with newborn sessions, but not with the baby plan, but I am gonna have her help today just in the interests of time and efficiency with all the equipment we've got going around on granted. Lacey kind of knows what's going on, but most parents don't have any idea what's happening in this kind of studio environment with the cameras and everything. So normally I have parents help out and that's pretty good with his age, because sometimes they need mom around. I mean, they kind of want the security of having mother there, so I'll probably have her just kind of stay within sight range that she can see what's happening. Hey, buddy, how you doing? This is as around here, what, six months now? Six years, six months. My gosh, he'...

s so cute. He's got a little fat rolls. Lovett, who did you beat? Keep order on the ground. Okay, we're going. We're going to make you o love hi, peanut, okay, so and this kind of set up do not do without an assistant who was fully trained that's just a period in a statement I'm going put him on this chair and that lawrence instructions are to ruin my shot at all cost so she is going to make sure that he stays happy here cool like that yeah what do you see right there is what a cute hat on you you would have been very sad flight switch you back a little bit I want to make you feel more secure, booboo oh, well well, well you d like I need to get my buzz lightyear don't I yeah watching hey likes to bend over on the front so I'm gonna grab a couple toys real quick make sure that we have enough entertainment that was lightyear you yeah, chief to connect you okay whenever you're ready oh ew ew what is that? Wait kuhio bythe years ago oh, I ah yeah ee yeah ee oh it's just a crazy you're crazy sorry but I'm scared that he's so good every time I put the camera he smiles here tonto with that thank you. Thank you e I don't wanna look atyou and touch my feet you straight down to get the tag up on their way that mr starr okay, yeah okay, so I want you to just see my what I do for interactions with this age oh my god he's so cute I can't stand it e should have ripped that tag off of there ah yeah I get that thing off of there, huh? It takes a man work using a longline hi, peanut I mean, you know he's so good what a sweet baby what can I give this to you okay let's back off first thing and I wanted to see him look out but just be ready to jump oh, that george the chicken yeah, he pokes me all the time too. Okay, so um you can see I did a lot of close medium far let's go ahead and change set up because he's doing great I want to write about um I move pretty quickly with let's go and remove the chair just put it on the ground. Look, um I moved really quickly through these because I only have about a half an hour of attention at this age. So yeah, perfect. You know what? I'm gonna go ahead and get it. He go hang out with you? Yeah. Is he going out with you? Great to be by yourself out there, huh? Going to lower my life too? I'm lowering my life because he's lower to the ground a little slow to come down here and they want to force the way you set the teddy bear up to him on his left side like I had other side here we go other side perfect. The reason I'm putting the teddy bear on the other side is because I want him to be the first thing that the light hits you boys are here yeah you're so cute teddy bear you can a little bit with like I really wanna cross somewhere and not letting me hi you killed a teddy bear giving a good struggle, huh? Uh great let's um oh, yeah yeah, I knew going removed the teddy bear thank you. Okay, I got it let's move on you're doing so good when babies get kind of start to get tired like this this is a great refresher like this kind of get him interested in something fun again get that food yummy. So what I'm going to do is put this right here it's just a little organic it's a tub of organic baby food you get him at any grocery store and the top peels off. I like it because the kids can access the food easily so we're going to go ahead and given this moon carrie but look at that look at that. You know what that is that that's? What is that? So what we're going to do with this usually happens quickly, so I need to be ready I'm gonna have lauren lauren what you're gonna do is you're gonna end up putting him so that the food is what set him down first I'll bring the food to him food get it? Okay, okay what's this you're gonna try tio what is that look oh yeah me what do you think? Do you want that spoon? Mmm that's go ahead, huh? Here you want this one you take you take you take this and go you know you can do it. Okay, so then what? I'm gonna do it hurry this usually sometimes happens quickly. Hey, wait you teo ever wake up theo theo the problems that you laugh like crazy when you're doing yeah, you think? Oh, you know fine oh, being at my camera working in shoot I shoot too fast get that spoon you put it in your mouth you give and sometimes they don't like it like on their body take that spoon and just put it on the floor next to the right. Go get that moon. Yeah, good job, t o my god, I love my job. What can you stick that in your mouth? I couldn't take the food jar and just put it to his right it's like no, I want it on my body what do you think, george? Soon my camera no thie tether thing is annoying sometimes I guess, but that's okay can you pick it up? Go ahead and hold the put it out in front of him again, right where it was? Yeah, here you go, you're getting a little tired. Ha baba, I know you're doing so good. Can you pick it out? Oh, okay, okay, done, he's. So cute. Okay, we'll get him cleaned up, and that would be, uh, you know, obviously, I don't have time to do all the backgrounds and all the, uh, all the looks for a complete session, but you can see that this food thing is really a fun thing for the kids at this age to two. D'oh, he's just started. He only had, like, half an hour now. So he's, just starting to get a little tired. But as you can see it's something that you would do at the end of the session, teo, because it's messy. Okay.

I just finished to watch this course. And I confess: I've been struggled all the time during the viewing to say already: I LOVE IT! So, I LOVE this course! Julia is so nice teacher, and photographer, and person. And she is so incredible organizator of whole child's photography business. She is amazing, so meticulous, so persuasive trough all and each one of the important points of this business. And she is just great in the part of studio´s shooting examples with the babies. This is one of the best and most valuable courses I found in Creative Live, thanks!

I've been so fortunate to be able to be a part of the Live audience experience with Julia. She is an amazing person, photographer and teacher. She does a fantastic job of explaining in detail, the steps she has taken that have helped her success as well as the steps that have set her back. We are so lucky to be able to learn from her experiences and to have someone who is willing to put herself out there to teach us and help us to grow as photographers. For anyone considering adding a Baby Plan to their portrait offerings, this class is a MUST have. Julia, you are #awesomesauce !! xoxo - Dawn Potter www.dawnpotterphotography.com
