Creating an Environment for Converting the Pencil Sketch into Editable Vector Graphic

in this lesson, I will show you my process of how to import a pencil sketch and convert that sketch into vector shapes. To scan your finished pencil sketch. I usually scan it in a low red, grayscale photo setting. You don't need a high resolution image. As long as you can see the image clearly while you're tracing, that's all you need. I usually save that image as jpeg after scanning opened new illustrator document and make sure the layer tab is on. If you don't see the layer panel, go to window menu and choose layers and you have one layer for placing the image and create another layer by clicking create a new layer tab and this will be a layer for your vector art. I'm going to change the name here and now make sure the bottom layer is selected. Go to file menu and choose place and choose the image to place on the documents. And when you click anywhere on the document then you see the image placed on the document of the illustrator. And I'm going to resize the image so it will fit the...

document area. Resize and reposition and now put the lock function on the layer so that you don't accidentally move or delete this sketch drawing image and make sure the top layer is selected. Now you're ready to convert this imported image into vector shapes image. Now this sketch image is included in the downloadable file so you can use this to use as an exercise so you don't have to draw something from scratch. And then in the next lesson, I will go over how to actually start creating using victor shapes.
